Thanks to a $20.6M investment from CIHR, the Canadian Consortium on Neurodegeneration in Aging is embarking on its third phase to continue important and meaningful research. The nominated principle investigator of the grant is CCNA’s Scientific Director, Dr. Howard Chertkow from the Baycrest Academy for Research and Education. Under Dr. Chertkow’ s leadership, the grant will fund CCNA’s Operations Centre and the Dementia Research Support Hub. The Support Hub, available for all Canadian dementia researchers, includes programs covering Knowledge Mobilization, Engagement of People with Loved Experience of Dementia, Indigenous Cognitive Health, Women, Sex, Gender and Dementia, and Training and Capacity Building. The grant will fund the continued development and operation of the Comprehensive Assessment of Neurodegeneration and Dementia (COMPASS-ND) Study – a unique Canadian cohort study with a wide range of neurodegenerative conditions. The grant will also support the dementia risk reduction educational program Brain Health PRO, designed to empower brain health and empower the Canadian public.
