Two CCNA Researchers Elected to Important International Alzheimer’s Disease Advisory Panel

Drs. Gillian Einstein and Jennifer Walker, two prominent Canadian dementia researchers and leaders within the Canadian Consortium on Neurodegeneration in Aging (CCNA), have been elected to join the Medical and Scientific Advisory Panel of Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI). ADI is the international federation of Alzheimer associations around the world and involved with the World Health Organization.

Dr. Einstein, is a Faculty Member at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto, and holder of the inaugural Wilfred and Joyce Posluns Chair in Women’s Brain Health and Aging. She leads the Women, Sex, Gender, and Dementia Cross-cutting Program in CCNA, which encourages CCNA researchers to address aspects of sex and gender in their work.

Dr. Walker, Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Health at Laurentian University, leads the team investigating issues in dementia care in Indigenous peoples and leads the Indigenous Cognitive Health Program in CCNA. Through this Program, CCNA members will be supported in their exploration of research questions related to Indigenous health and healthcare.

Both Researchers are part of the CCNA Research Executive Committee (REC) which oversees and guides the mission of the consortium. Drs. Einstein’s and Walker’s respective expertise in women’s health and Indigenous health have been of tremendous value in CCNA and will certainly be so in the ADI. They will be joining other CCNA members, Drs. Howard Feldman and Serge Gauthier, on this advisory panel. The role of the ADI Medical and Scientific Advisory panel is to provide expert advice when necessary, and its members also act as international ambassadors for ADI. It is a testament to the importance and reach of Dr. Einstein’s and Dr. Walker’s work that they have been selected to join this esteemed panel.
