• WHO can submit? Any researcher, trainee (all levels), and research staff conducting research on dementia or brain health.

  • Will there be more than one poster session? Yes. 1) on the first day, there will be a session for trainees AND researchers working on neurodegeneration in aging, and 2) on the second day, the session will showcase past and present projects from CCNA teams, programs and platforms.

  • Can I submit more than one abstract? No, a presenting author may submit only one poster abstract.

  • Will you accept virtual posters? No, we will not be accepting virtual posters.
  • Can I submit my abstract in French? Yes, poster abstracts may be submitted, and posters presented, in English or French.

  • Does CCNA proofread abstracts? No, please ensure that your abstract does not contain spelling, grammatical, or scientific errors.
  • Review: All abstracts will undergo an administrative review to make sure the subject is relevant.

  • HOW will I know if my poster was accepted? We will send a confirmation email by mid-June. Additional information, including poster preparation guidelines, will also be sent at that time.

The EPLED program is offering one poster prize valued at $500 (CAD) to a trainee conducting research in Canada who tailors their messages to diverse audiences (i.e., to include people with lived experience). This prize is intended to promote skills in communicating with non-academic audiences and provide opportunities for trainees to connect with EPLED members.

The prize will be adjudicated by EPLED Advisory Group members.

Applicants are permitted to enter one poster in the competition and will be invited to share a 2–3 minute presentation for the EPLED Advisory Group judges on a Zoom meeting on Wednesday, September 30, at 12-1 pm ET, 2026.

The Trainee poster competition is an opportunity to showcase trainee research contributions for trainees conducting research in Canada and to celebrate their successes.

A certificate will be awarded by the CCNA Training and Capacity Building Program in each of the following categories (number of entries permitting): Undergraduate, Master’s, Doctoral, and Postdoctoral.

Posters will be judged with trainees in attendance (mandatory) at appointed times during CCNA’s 2026 annual conference.

Trainees should prepare a 2–3-minute presentation for the judges. More information will follow about the competition after notifications are sent to the presenting authors.

Applications are open to a full-time or part-time trainees conducting research in Canada and working on a dementia-related project who are submitting a poster or a Tik-Talk.

Prizes: 15 abstracts will be chosen to receive $1,000 CAD each for travel support. Note that for trainees from Vancouver, only the registration fee will be covered.

The following will be used to evaluate each application:

    • A letter from the applicant describing how attending the CCNA annual conference will benefit the applicant’s research career related to brain health and cognitive impairment in aging (no more than 300 words).
    • A letter of recommendation from the applicant’s supervisor who is familiar with the applicant’s work (no more than one page; Word or PDF files accepted).

  • The plain language summary should be constructed around four questions: 1) What is the question we studied? 2) How did we study it? 3) What did we find? 4) Why does it matter?

  • This plain language summary will be shared with lived experience and community partners attending the conference, and will assist them in better understanding your poster.
