Arts-based knowledge translation: Piece of mind

On January 19, 2022 (1-2 pm ET) we will host Dr. Naila Kuhlmann for a webinar on arts-based knowledge translation.

The webinar will discuss the process of creating the Piece of Mind performance. It will address the questions of what is art-based knowledge translation, and how can performing arts help engage people in knowledge exchange.

Piece of Mind is an arts-based knowledge translation project bringing together scientific researchers, performing artists, caregivers, and people living with dementia or Parkinson’s disease to co-create performances based on scientific research and lived experience. Our goals are to 1) use the performing arts to facilitate knowledge exchange and empathy between project participants and 2) engage a wide audience on both an intellectual and emotional level. Naila Kuhlmann’s presentation will focus on the dementia project, specifically the collaborative process, the resulting performance and supplementary materials, and the next steps. The presentation will be fairly interactive; feedback on the performance and ideas for how to build on it are welcome!

If you would like to watch the performance or any of the “behind-the-scenes” videos before the webinar, you can find them on the Piece of Mind Youtube channel.

Registration is required.
