The Training and Capacity Building Program would like to welcome Charlene Chu to the CCNA. Charlene was awarded a Canadian Nurses Foundation (CNF) student award to support work she will be doing in the CCNA. Charlene received her PhD from the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing and the Institute for Life Course & Aging at the University of Toronto (Supervisor: Dr. Katherine McGilton). Charlene’s doctorate examined the feasibility and effectiveness of a walking intervention using a person-centered care approach to maintain the mobility of nursing home residents with dementia. As a Registered Nurse for over 10 years, Charlene’s clinical background complements her expertise in the design and testing of clinical interventions for older adults with cognitive impairment. Charlene is completing her post-doctorate training with Dr. Alex Mihailidis (CCNA Team 15) examining the feasibility of using sensors to detect the mobility and functional decline of older adults post-discharge from rehabilitation.
