Indigenous Community-Centered
Research in the CCNA

In the past, cognitive health research in Canada was rarely Indigenous-led. In Phase I of the CCNA, Team 20 was jointly dedicated to Indigenous and rural research. In Phase II, CCNA added a team dedicated to Indigenous research (Team 18) and a cross-cutting program, the Indigenous Cognitive Health program, dedicated to supporting Indigenous-led cognitive health research. The ICH program exists today supporting this work. In Phase III, teams to be announced in July 2025 will focus on Indigenous cognitive health research. Phase III prioritizes Indigenous self-determination and decolonization of Indigenous cognitive health research.
